“Let the word of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and Spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”    Colossians 3:16

Here are some samples of songs we sing as part of Christ’s church. They are short, simple, spiritual, biblical songs of truth; key words being “spiritual” (of the Holy Spirit) and “truth”.  If our worship is in Spirit and Truth, we are offering the right worship to God. (see John 4:23,24).

Singing God’s word and having it in our heart is one of the best ways to keep us from temptaion and grow as a Christian (see Psalm 119:11).  Short, simple arrangements and melodies help to remember the words.  An acoustic guitar is an excellent instrument to aid the singing, but if you don’t have a skilful player, most songs can be sung unaccompanied.

All songs can have harmony parts sung to them.  I have given some examples.  You could add more of your own.  I have given the key for each song in the recording.  A PDF of the words and chords is HERE.  These are not professional studio quality recordings; they didn’t need to be for this purpose.  They are simple demos recorded with my family standing around a microphone; some, as you will hear, were recorded when the kids were very young!
